Welcome to FoodBlurb. By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. About FoodBlurb

FoodBlurb is a social discovery platform connecting food lovers with local restaurants. We offer features including restaurant discovery, loyalty programmes, table reservations, exclusive deals, and direct messaging between customers and businesses.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use FoodBlurb. By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

3. User Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree not to share your password or allow others to access your account. Notify us immediately at support@foodblurb.app if you suspect unauthorised access.

4. Business Owner Accounts

Restaurant owners must submit accurate business information during verification. FoodBlurb reserves the right to approve or reject any business listing. Owners are solely responsible for the accuracy of their menus, deals, pricing, and reservation availability. FoodBlurb is not liable for any disputes between restaurants and customers.

5. Loyalty Programme

Loyalty stamps and rewards are issued at the sole discretion of each participating restaurant. FoodBlurb does not guarantee the availability, value, or continuity of any loyalty rewards. Stamps have no monetary value and cannot be transferred or exchanged for cash.

6. Reservations

FoodBlurb facilitates reservations between users and restaurants but is not a party to the booking. We are not responsible if a restaurant cancels, modifies, or fails to honour a reservation. Users should contact the restaurant directly to resolve booking disputes.

7. Deals & Offers

Deals and special offers are provided by individual restaurants and are subject to availability and expiry. FoodBlurb does not guarantee the validity of any offer. Contact the restaurant if a deal is refused.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: post false, misleading, or defamatory content; attempt to gain unauthorised access to other accounts or systems; use the platform to spam, harass, or harm others; or use automated tools to scrape or misuse our services.

9. Content You Post

By posting photos, reviews, or other content on FoodBlurb, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to display that content within the platform. You retain ownership of your content. We may remove content that violates these Terms or our community standards.

10. Subscription Plans

Business owners may subscribe to paid plans (Starter or Pro). Subscriptions are billed monthly and may be cancelled at any time. No refunds are issued for partial billing periods. FoodBlurb reserves the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

11. Limitation of Liability

FoodBlurb is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, FoodBlurb shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including loss of data, revenue, or reputation.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violations of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases immediately.

13. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of FoodBlurb after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify users of significant changes via email or in-app notification.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Travis County, Texas.

FoodBlurb ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

1. Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account information — name, email address, profile photo, and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication)
• Location data — approximate GPS coordinates when you use the Nearby tab, used solely to calculate distances to restaurants. We do not store your location history.
• Photos & content — images you upload (profile photos, restaurant cover photos) stored in Firebase Storage
• Usage data — screens visited, buttons tapped, and session duration collected via Firebase Analytics to improve the app
• Push notification tokens — a device token (FCM token) stored to deliver push notifications you have opted into
• Reservation & loyalty data — your bookings, loyalty stamp counts, and check-in history
• Business information (owners only) — restaurant name, address, verification documents submitted during onboarding

2. How We Use Your Data

• To operate and personalise your FoodBlurb experience
• To send booking confirmation and loyalty reward notifications
• To verify business owner accounts and prevent fraud
• To improve app performance and fix bugs via analytics
• To send push notifications you have explicitly enabled
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Third Parties We Use

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Google Firebase — Authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, analytics, and push notifications. Data is processed by Google LLC. See firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• Unsplash — Stock images used for restaurant placeholders (no personal data shared)

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. Ever.

4. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Reservation and loyalty data is kept for up to 2 years after your last activity. Deleted accounts have their personal data removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
• Correction — update inaccurate information from your profile settings
• Deletion — request full account and data deletion by contacting us
• Opt-out of notifications — disable push notifications at any time from your device settings or profile
• Opt-out of analytics — contact us to opt out of Firebase Analytics tracking

6. Location Data

Location access is requested only when you open the Nearby tab and only to sort restaurants by distance. Your coordinates are processed on-device and are never stored on our servers or shared with restaurants.

7. Children's Privacy

FoodBlurb is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including Firebase Authentication, Firestore security rules, and HTTPS encryption for all data in transit. No system is 100% secure — if you discover a vulnerability, please report it to security@foodblurb.app.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our services evolve. We'll notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of FoodBlurb after changes constitutes acceptance.
